Lauren and Jacob’s wedding at Nottoway Plantation was simply magical. We asked Lauren and Jacob to tell us the inspiration behind their wedding day, enjoy!
“Jacob and I met riding horses and we have both been involved in the Virginia equestrian community since we were very young children. Both of us pretty much grew up on historic farms ourselves– Jacob’s childhood home was a farm built in 1779 and my parents own a horse farm built in 1760– so it just didn’t seem right to have our wedding any other way except to throw a big, formal, elegant affair at the largest antebellum mansion in the country!
Our wedding is inspired by the sophistication of Southern style and traditions– including all the glamour, grace, and grandeur of Southern plantations in their glory days– with a little bit of a modern twist. Honestly, the entire wedding is based off of the breathtaking natural elegance of the plantation house at Nottoway Plantation– we took the rest from that starting point!
Although we are both a tad horse-obsessed, we tried to keep the horse theme “low key” (anyone who knows us well and has seen our house will see this is “minimal horse involvement” for us!)”
