Jacey and Stephen’s romantic French Quarter Engagement Session

I feel like I should explain this pic, even if a picture is worth 1000 words, haha.   Jacey is a Dr, and she was on call.  So, when her phone would ring, I’d give her a note pad that I carry in my camera bag,  she would take the call, and Stephen just patiently wait.  It was the cutest.

How did you meet?

Steven and I first met back in 2007, at a party at the Sugar Mill. We both sort of had eyes on each other, and knew who the other person was through mutual friends. I got my mutual friend (Mia) to introduce us, and we went on a couple of “dates” back then, but nothing ever came of it. We led separate lives for a few years… Then we reconnected via Instagram (he “slid in my DMs”) in spring 2013 and have been pretty much inseparable since!

Where did you go on your first date?

Katie’s Restaurant

Tell us about the proposal!

It was the cutest. The date was Saturday 5/20/2017, and it was 1 week after his birthday. He had been planning a house party at our home for his birthday and was planning to invite all his friends/family. We throw parties and get-togethers fairly frequently, so it didn’t seem like a big deal to me. I’m also not very into party planning, so I left all the details to him and his friends. I tried to dissuade him from having it that day since it was also my little brother’s graduation from medical school, so I’d be tied up doing stuff with him and my family all day. But he was quite stubborn about it, and now I know why. When the day came, we ended up going to my brother’s graduation early in the day, then going with my family to lunch after to celebrate him. He managed to convince my family (including my 90-year-old grandfather visiting from Philadelphia) to come over to the house after. When we got there, we were met by all his friends and family, as I had expected since it was a birthday party for him. But then when I came around the corner to the front of our house, I saw a bunch of MY friends there too, and a big sign on the wall with “JACEY WILL YOU MARRY ME” in gold letters (I love gold!), and I was stunned. Then Steven made a little speech and got down on one knee and proposed, and it was the sweetest, most wonderful thing ever! Of course, I said yes!
