Callie and Kyle were married in style on New Year’s Eve. Their Southern Heritage Forest Museum wedding transformed the southern industrial landscape into a regal destination. With help from her Mom, Laurie Croom, Callie bought her vision of a classy New Year’s Eve wedding to life! The rain didn’t hamper the atmosphere, as this group was ready to celebrate the love of Callie and Kyle.
If you are looking for the perfect location for a rural wedding, a barn wedding, or even something industrial, then the Southern Heritage Forest Museum may just be the perfect venue for you. It’s located in Forest Hill, Louisiana (about 25 minutes South of Alexandria). Even though it lends itself to a more rustic wedding, as you can see- it can be transformed into something that royalty would be proud to host a celebration in- because that’s what Callie and Kyle did (with the help of Callie’s Mom, Laurie)
Callie included so many details that were unique, as you’ll see in the images below. From the sign in table which included a Bible along with instructions to “Highlight your favorite verse” to a S’mores bar! They had a fun backdrop where everyone could take selfies- but I couldn’t help bringing out my big lights (Profoto B1’s) to create some fun editorial shots with the crowd. The custom backdrop for the ceremony contained gigantic letters that spelled out “Best Day Ever”, while guests could enjoy the ceremony from an array of pews and vintage chairs adorned with many comfy pillows.
The late night seated dinner included a home cooked feast that Callie calls “her favorite Sunday meal”, of course it was complete with Black Eyed Peas, Ham, and cabbage. They held a “Milk and Cookie” toast with their guests, and I have to admit- those cookies were absolutely the best chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had- and they probably knocked me out of ketosis for weeks. But the star attraction (besides Callie- of course) was her amazing “Naked Cake” from Sweet Lady Cakes. Look closely at the pics below, and you’ll see a cute little “Naked Baby” providing the perfect accent to the Naked Cake.
All in all, this was the perfect way to cap off 2016, wonderful people, a heartfelt ceremony, and a relaxing but fun reception complete with board games while everyone waited on the midnight hour to strike. Thanks Callie and Kyle for letting me document your amazing day!
